Posted by Admin On December - 24 - 2011

As winter is approaching and the eve of Christmas and New Year are coming close, it is time to take a look at your wardrobe and prepare for the party time! Christmas decoration and cleaning starts a month before the festival. The fun filled mood and active spirits for shopping and decorating the home for Christmas captures the mind and time. If you don’t have space in your wardrobe to keep new clothes, here are few ideas to clean and organise the wardrobe for Christmas. Read on…

Decoration ideas to clean and organise wardrobe for new clothes:

  1. It is time to remove those sleeveless tops, spaghettis and hot pants from the wardrobe and take out winter wear stored under the bed.
  2. Check out the dresses which you don’t wear much often. Remove them from the closet. Start from the first rack and then go down gradually.
  3. Hang jackets and scarves in hangers to take it out easily before leaving out. Jackets can cover a lot of space in the wardrobe so it is best to hang them. Hanging jackets also maintains the shape of it.
  4. Arrange the jeans and trousers in one corner of the wardrobe. Thick clothes can fall of easily so don’t keep more than 4-5 jeans over each other.
  5. Keep the t-shirts together. Tops and t-shirts can be easily arranged in the wardrobe,. Clean the racks by taking out unwanted tops and organising space inside it for new clothes.
  6. You must be having little idea as to what new clothes you are planning to add to your wardrobe. Organise the closet accordingly.
  7. Organise the wardrobe by arranging the most commonly worn clothes in the front as taking out clothes and then keeping it again can affect the cleaning.
  8. Keep party wears in a cloth cover to maintain the fabric and keep it clean. This also prevents the expenses on dry cleaning.

Try these ideas to clean and arrange the wardrobe. Don’t forget to use naphthalene balls. It prevents the clothes from getting molds and damp smell.

Matrimonial Resume

Posted by cls On August - 17 - 2009

A matrimonial resume is prepared for finding  a match. Hence, personal characteristics are disclosed in a very detailed manner. The personal profile is prepared first with age, details about physical appearance, and status. These details are usually the first things the reader wants to know so that they can weed out prospective matches.

After this, the hobbies and interests should be discussed. Most of the time people want to find a partner that is compatible to them in terms of tastes and hobbies. List your favorite activities, books, movies, and music. They also want to know about your abilities and skills. On the other hand, you have to be honest in presenting these types of details. Getting them to notice your matrimonial resume is not your only goal.

Your work background should also be discussed briefly. You want them to know what you do for a living and how you support yourself. State your position and the company name in a chronological manner. Education history follows this section. Just list the courses you have taken along with your achievements, if you have any. Finally, list your preferences for your partner such as preferred characteristics, skills, and physical details.

Friendship Day?

Posted by cls On August - 2 - 2009

Celebrate Friendship Day 2009 on August 2, Sunday

We are social creatures and so we always value the importance of friends in our lives. To celebrate this noble feeling first Sunday of August was declared as a holiday in US in honor of friends by a Proclamation made by US Congress in 1935. Since then, World Friendship Day is being celebrated every year on the first Sunday in the month of August.

This beautiful idea of celebrating Friendship Day was joyfully accepted by several other countries across the world. And today, many countries including India, celebrate the first Sunday of August as Friendship Day every year. Celebrating Friendship Day in a traditional manner, people meet their friends and exchange cards and flowers to honor their friends. Lot many social and cultural organization too celebrate the occasion and mark Friendship Day by hosting programs and get together.

It may be noted that some associations celebrate Friendship Day in an entirely different time of the year and with different customs. For instance,

  • National Friendship Day is on the first Sunday in August.
  • Women’s Friendship Day is on the third Sunday in August
  • International Friendship Month is February
  • Old Friends, New Friends Week is the third week of May

However, what is remarkably same is the idea behind the celebration of the day. Everywhere, people express love for their friends and cherish their presence in life.

Basic Tips for Online Shopping

Posted by cls On July - 26 - 2009

Father’s Day 21st June

Posted by cls On June - 21 - 2009

The word ‘Father’ is often used to honor spiritual leaders, inventors and originator of an idea, product, service or person. It is so, that fathers have always been associated with guidance and protection, as the person who can be loved, respected and looked up to. Let’s use the Father’s Day to let these special men know what place they have in our lives and what influence they have on us.

Today 21st June 2009  is Father’s Day and don’t forget to make this day special day more special!

  1. The Father’s Day is a day of commemoration and celebration of Dad -the special man in our life.
  2. We often forget the sacrifice of our fathers and the roles they have played in shaping our lives.
  3. Father’s Day gives us the opportunity to show and express our love and care to this man, who deserves our support most.
  4. Father’s Day is the most appropriate platform to make us look beyond ‘our own’ family and honor the man who brought us joy and happiness.
  5. Father’s Day is a day to honor not only your father, but all men who have acted as a father figure in your life – whether as Stepfathers, Uncles, Grandfathers, or “Big Brothers.”
  6. Father’s Day is a time of burnt toast and breakfast in bed, family gatherings, and crayon scribbled “I Love You Dad” and, of course, that lovely new tie!

Father’s Day in India
It is comparatively a new trend in India. Similar to western countries like USA and UK, Father’s Day celebration is slowly gaining ground in various Indian metropolises. Urban places in the country, where people are more receptive towards western culture, have recognized the sentiments attached with the day and have been celebrating it for not more than ten years now. The idea of honoring dads on this particular day has been appreciated by millions of Indians, who observe it on the third Sunday of June every year.

On this day, children pay tribute to their fathers and bestow them with gifts. They also express their warm greetings and love to people whom they consider as father figures. Though Father’s Day celebrations are more pronounced in urban centers of India, many people in smaller towns and remote areas are also slowly catching up with the concept. Due credits goes to the numerous advertising campaigns that voice the importance of this day through gifts and greeting cards, for increasing its awareness.

Like in the West, children in India also make it a point to indulge dad with various love tokens and gifts during the occasion. From flowers to expensive accessories, various Fathers Day gifts throng the Indian markets. Popular gifts include cards, bouquets, watches and wine bottles. The trend of presenting the conventional necktie to dads is also in style. Most Indian families generally prefer celebrating it by dining in restaurants or going out for a family picnic or a movie. Cultural shows are also organized in various schools and clubs to honor dads on this special day.

Kitchen Tips

Posted by cls On March - 25 - 2009

  1. A bay leaf added to the flour container will keep the flour free from moisture!
  2. Add a piece of coconut shell to a mutton dish while it is getting cooked, the meat remains tender and gets cooked much faster!
  3. Add a pinch of salt while frying Puris or Pakoras – this will help absorb less oil!
  4. Add a pinch of sugar while cooking spinach and green leafy vegetables, it will retain its green colour!
  5. Add atea spoon full of vinegar in water while boiling eggs. Even if they crack content will not come out!
  6. Add some boiled rice while grinding for Dosa, this will give soft Dosas!
  7. Always fry onions in a little oil and then grind. Raw onion paste will turn bitter immediately!
  8. Avoid eggplant (brinjal) turning black by putting the cut pieces in a bowl of water mixed with a spoon of milk!
  9. Before beating eggs, rinse the container with water. The mixture will not stick to the sides of the vessel.
  10. Cleaning your grater after shredding cheese can be made easy by grating a raw potato after the cheese. The potato clears the gummy cheese out of the holes!
  11. Cut the top of the carrot and store in air tight bag. This will keep it fresh for a longer period!Put the bananas in a black plastic bag before keeping it in the refrigerator – skin will not turn black and they will come out yellow even after a week! Lemon juice added to carrot cooking water will help keep the color bright!
  12. Do not fry paneer, immerse it in boiling water to make it soft and spongy!
  13. Fat can be removed from hot soup by floating a large lettuce leaf on the surface!
  14. For soft idlies like a sponge do not stir the batter after it has got fermented.Pour the batter as it is!
  15. If you don’t have any cream to add in the soup or gravy, add a mixture of butter and milk!
  16. If you drop an egg on the floor, cover it with salt and leave it for a couple of minutes. Cleaning the mess will be easy with a paper towel!
  17. If you happen to bite a chili in your food take a sip of cold milk to sustain the heat!
  18. Keep boiled eggs in cold water for 5 minutes, this will make removal of the shell easier!Store Sambar powder and Rasam powder in the deep freezer. This will keep the fresh aroma for a longer time!Always soak cut egg plants (brinjal) in water otherwise it will turn black!Never use stainless steel spoons for pickles, this will react with the acids in the pickle! For spongy egg scramble add 3 tsp of milk while beating!
  19. Keep the Karela in water and add a pinch of salt in it for 1/2 hour to remove the bitterness of it!
  20. Mushrooms readily absorb water, even from atmosphere – they should never be washed. Instead wipe them with a clean and damp cloth!
  21. Never cook mushrooms in aluminum pans because the mushrooms will darken!
  22. Never keep greens in plastics, it will rot quickly!
  23. Never store an apple near a banana unless you want to ripen the banana in a short period of time!
