Once there lived a pious brahmin in a village. He used to perform religious rituals. On one occasion he was rewarded with a cow by a rich man for his service. The brahmin started to bring the cow to his home. On the way, three rogues saw the brahmin bringing the cow. They were lazy and wanted to cheat the brahmin so that they could take away the cow. They hatched a plan.

The first person approached the brahmin and said, “Are you a washer man that you’re pulling a donkey.” The brahmin was annoyed at being mistaken for a washer man. He went on. A little later he was met by the second of the rogues. The second person asked him why being a brahmin he needed to pull a pig. Now the brahmin was confused but he went on. Some distance later he was met by the third person who asked him why he was pulling along a wild animal. Now the brahmin was totally confused and also afraid. He thought that it was a devil animal which took different forms. He ran away leaving the cow behind. The three tricksters laughed at the brahmin at having cheated the cow from the brahmin.

Story moral: Believe your own eyes than what you hear.

Panchatantra are a collection of five volumes of stories written by a guru or teacher to instruct the different aspects of kinghood for princes. The five volumes together serve as a guide for prospective kings, to help him on ruling, to choose fellow friends, fellow ministers, and to have good conduct in daily life etc. These collection of stories in Pancha tantra are a real boon for parents to help them guide their children towards values in human life. All stories of Pancha tantra are accompanied by a moral.

The background story of Panchatantra goes as follows:

Many ages ago in the kingdom of Mahilaropya, there lived a king who was ruling very ideally. He had three sons, who were not intelligent. The king was worried about the heir to the throne, as he knew that his sons were incapable of governing. He was desperate to find a good and knowledgable teacher for his sons who would teach them the scriptures and make them knowledgeable in a short span of time. His minister then pointed towards a skilled pundit, Vishnu sharman. Vishnu sharman was old and the king was worried as to how an old teacher could accomplish this as an intelligent man takes more than twelve years to grasp all the elements of scriptures. Then Vishnu sharman convinced the king that he would teach the princes about kingly conduct through a series of stories, which would be more effective than the scriptures. Thus Vishnu sharman compiled the collection in five volumes termed as Pancha tantra.

Panchatantra is written in five volumes:

• The Loss of friends
• The winning of friends
• Crows and Owls
• Loss of Gains
• Ill considered action

Plants are individual in their need for water ,some requiring more than others.Large plants need more water thansmall ones.Also, plants need less water in winter than in summer,because in winters the soil remains moist for a longer period.So,in winters the plants may need no watering for a number of days,whereas in summers, the watering may have to be as frequent as twice a day.Whenever watering is undertaken,it must be thorough.Frequent inadequate watering draws surface roots to the top,causes rapid transpiration and exhaust the plant.Watering must be done in the early morning or in the evening when the soil around the pot is not hot. Should watering become necessary during the bright sunshine, the pot should be removed to shade the soil allowed to cool down, before the plant is watered.A plant needs generous watering when buds are forming and it is in full bloom.

Judging If A Plant Needs Water
More houseplants die through being excessively or insufficiently watered than from any other reason. To judge if a plant in a pot needs water rub a finger or thumb on the potting soil to assess its moisture content.Howeve, repeated pressing compresses the compost.

Another simple way of understanding the plant’s need for water is by seeing the colour of the soil in the pot. When the soil is dry it becomes pale and crumbly,but if wet, it is dark.Eventually, most houseplant enthusiasts use this method to assess if water is needed. farm mechanisation in India speedier. Thus the future seems to be bright.

FOOD AND AIR
The soil of plants must be “well enriched” ,which means that the soil should be rich enough for the growth of the plant and able to retain moisture.The soil may be enriched by adding organic and inorganic manures.Organic manure is a manure made from wastes of plants and animals(decomposed leaves and cow dung). An inorganic manure is made chemically and is, therefore also known as chemical fertilizer.These are available in small packets.The manure is added to the soil in the plants,three to four times in a yer-once before winters, then before the onset of summers and again before the rainy season.The soil is loosened a little by digging and the manure is put around the plant on top of the soil.While digging the soil, take care not to damage the roots.The day you loosen the soil, do not water the plant that same day.The interval between loosening and watering of soil, helps in the aeration of roots and absorption of water from a greater depth.

Rooms with indoor plants placed in it, should let some fresh air into the rooms,even if it’s only through the wire mesh (jaalis) on the windows.

Top-Dressing Large Houseplants
When plants inpots become too large to be re potted, they are top dressed in spring.Allow the surface soil to dry slightly, then use small trowel(tool for digging)to scrape away the top 1-1.5 inches.

Replace the surface soil with potting soil. Leave a space between the top of the soil and the rim of the pot,so that the plant can be watered without the water over flowing, when the soil in the pot becomes dry.

LIQUID FERTILIZERS
Concentrated fertilizers are diluted in clean water snd applied to the potting compost at ten to fourteen-day intervals during summer.

If the potting compost is dry, first water it.This is because when it is dry there is a risk of the fertilizer damaging the roots.Also ,if it is dry the soil-ball contracts and leaves a gap around the inside of the pot, through which water and fertilizer will escape and be wasted.

Throughly agitate the water, ensuring that the fertilizer is completely mixed.Use before the plant food has had time to settle.

Do not apply liquid fertilizers to dry compost as it may then damage roots or run out of the gap between the soil-ball and inside the pot.

HUMIDITY
Most houseplants are tropical plants and come from places where the humidity (the amount of moisture in the air) is as high as 70,80 or even 90 percent.The amount of moisture in the air influences the health and growth of plants Deserts cacti in hot regions have thick outer layers that reduce the amount of moisture they give off.Most plants however ,need a humid atmosphere to prevent their leaves and stem becoming dry. Spraying them regularly with water from a spray bottle or sprinkling water on the leaves;or setting them on a tray or a plastic saucer filled with pebbles and water, will increase the humidity around the plants together helps raise the humidity, too , because when they transpire, or breathe, they give off humidity to one another!

Don’t Spray Water
1) When the sun is shining.Water globules act as lenses,intensifying the sun’s rays and burning leaves . 2) During evenings, especially in autumn & winter .Instead, mist-spray in the morning, so that the moisture has a chance to dry before the onset of night.

Grouping Of Plants for Humid Atmosphere
Placing plants in groups creates humid micro-climates (a small area with high humidity)around them. Moisture given off from the surfaces of leaves is trapped. When a plant is diaplayed on its own, moisture soon disperses.

Keeping The Atmosphere Humid
Regularly mist-spray smooth-surfaced leaves in summer.However, take care not to spray water on flowers, as they then soon decay.Place a piece of card in front of the flowers.Afew plants suchas philodendrons and the Swiss Cheese PlantThese must be mist-sprayed in summer to prevent them from becoming dry and hard.

Excessive Humidity
1) Soft leaves soon decay, especially if hairy. Moisture becomes trapped around the hair on the leaves.
2) Leaves that are close to the stems create traps for water.
3) Flower petals,especially when tightly packed together, become covered wirh a furry mould.
4) Plants with masses of soft leaves closely packed together become infested with decay.

Dry Atmosphere (Less Humidity)
1) Tips of leaves shrivelled,curled and brown.The whole plant wilts if the temperature is very high,with leaves eventually falling off.
2) Flowers fade and discolour, with flower buds wilting and eventually falling off.
3) Surfaces of leaves become dull.
4) Tips of shoots wilt,then shrivel.

Talking about the film, Sharman Joshi says, “I’m pleased to start the New Year 2012 with a roller-coaster of a romantic ride where I am the sole hero. Raima, Riya and I had great fun while shooting for this comedy. I am sure that people, especially young-at-hearts will love this clean funny youth-oriented comedy.”

Mischievous Amit (Sharman Joshi) and shy Jai (Manish Nagpal) are two small town boys who come down to Mumbai for admission in Dhariwal College. To his credit, Amit ends up in a jam when he teases Neha (Raima Sen) and Nisha (Riya Sen) on the very first day of college and manages to drag poor Jai into this mess too. They are brought in front of principal Shalini Devi (Himani Shivpuri) and somehow manage to keep their admission in the college intact. But their biggest problem is that they don’t get a room in the college hostel. Not being very affluent, the boys can’t just go to a hotel or rent a furnished flat for the duration of college. They employ the help of an estate agent, who finds them a client who rents out a room in her house for cheap, the only condition being: no single men allowed, only families/married couples. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Jai is transformed into Jaya and Amit is the lucky husband. When the tenant couple goes to meet their landlady, they stand dazed to find out that it is their college principal Shalini Devi. Innocent to the con, Shalini Devi agrees to allow this couple in her home. The double whammy for the “couple” arrives when, the next morning, Amit and Jaya find out that Shalini Devi has two nieces…. The very two beautiful girls they got into trouble with in college: Neha and Nisha.

Now starts the real confusion of romance and love. Amit falls madly in love with Neha but she of course doesn’t look at him because according to her he is married. Nisha falls hard for Jai in college without knowing that he is playing wife “Jaya” to Amit. On the other hand Jai refuses to indulge her advances as he wants to sincerely concentrate on his studies and make his parents proud.

The whole college is exasperated with Principal Shalini Devi’s autocracy and strictness so both Amit and Jai involve their professor Deepak Verma in a crazy plan. They encourage Deepak to have an affair with Shalini. They think that love can change everything and if Shalini falls for Deepak then maybe she will become softer and loving towards the whole world in general. Amit and Neha coach Deepak in the matters of the heart and love.

The college campus is now ringing with love stories of three couples. Amit-Neha, Jai-Nisha and Deepak-Shalini. And just when these stories are about to reach a happily ever after, comes the climax with a resounding Boom. Everyone’s real identity and real reasons for falling in love are discovered by each other and all hell breaks loose. The Boom happens but it does not destroy as expected.

Decoration ideas to clean and organise wardrobe for new clothes:

1. It is time to remove those sleeveless tops, spaghettis and hot pants from the wardrobe and take out winter wear stored under the bed.
2. Check out the dresses which you don’t wear much often. Remove them from the closet. Start from the first rack and then go down gradually.
3. Hang jackets and scarves in hangers to take it out easily before leaving out. Jackets can cover a lot of space in the wardrobe so it is best to hang them. Hanging jackets also maintains the shape of it.

पानी

सर्दियों में पानी ज्यादा पीने की आदत डालें। ठंड के कारण पानी पीने की इच्छा नहीं होती। गर्मियों में जितना पानी हम पी जाते हैं, सर्दियों में उसका 20 प्रतिशत भी नहीं पीते। वातावरण में नमी भी नहीं होती। ये स्थितियां त्वचा और स्वास्थ्य दोनों के लिए हानिकारक साबित हो सकती हैं। इसलिए बच्चों को भी इस दौरान खूब पानी पिलाएं। सुबह उठकर गुनगुने पानी में नीबू, थोड़ा शहद डालकर पिएं। इससे पेट साफ  होता है, त्वचा में चमक आती है। ठंड के मौसम में कॉलेस्ट्रोल का लेवल ठीक रखने के लिए आधा चम्मच मेथीदाना या दो-तीन कली लहसुन की चबाकर गुनगुना पानी लिया जा सकता है। खाने में हींग, अजवाइन जरूर खाएं। पेट का वात विकार दूर होगा। 

जूस की जगह सूप

सर्दियों में आप भी तरह-तरह के सूप तैयार कर सकते हैं। घर में बना टमाटर सूप त्वचा और पूरे स्वास्थ्य के लिए आश्चर्यजनक कार्य करता है। जब भी सूप बनाएं, इसमें बटर और कालीमिर्च जरूर डालें। कालीमिर्च हाजमे और खांसी में फ ायदेमंद होती है। टमाटर सूप के अलावा आप मटर का सूप, दाल का सूप, कॉर्न सूप, वैजिटेबल सूप बना सकते हैं। 

फल और हरी सब्जियां

अलग-अलग रंग के फ लों और सब्जियों की अपनी उपयोगिता है। त्वचा को चमकाने और स्वस्थ रखने वाले विटामिन सी युक्त फ लों की भरमार होने के साथ-साथ कुछ मौसमी चीजों में भी आपको सर्दियों की स्वास्थ्य समस्याओं के उपाय मिल जाएंगे। ठंड के मौसम में हरी सब्जियों का आनंद अवश्य लें। दूसरे मौसम में ताजी और पौष्टिक सब्जियां नहीं मिलतीं जैसे पालक, मेथी, बथुआ के साथ में मटर, गाजर, चुकंदर। ये ठंड में आपको फि ट रखेंगी। ब्रोकोली, गोभी, पालक जैसी हरी सब्जियों में विटामिन बी और मिनरल होते हैं। इनके सेवन से  प्रतिरक्षा प्रणाली मजबूत बनती है। लाल रंग के फ ल और सब्जियो जैसे टमाटर और तरबूज में फाइटोकेमिकल्स होते हैं और लाइकोपीन नामक रसायन होता है, जो किसी प्रकार की आंतरिक क्षति या सूरज की किरणों से होने वाली त्वचा की क्षति से सुरक्षा करता है। 

गहरे नारंगी और पीले रंग के फ लों में कैरोटिनाइड और विटामिन ए प्रचुर मात्रा में होते हैं, जो ऑस्टियोपोरोसिस का खतरा कम करते हैं। गाजर, कद्दू, मीठे आलू जैसी सब्जियां आंखों और त्वचा के लिए भी अच्छी होती हैं। सब्जियों में जहां प्रोटीन, विटामिन, कार्बोहाइड्रेट्स, एंटीऑक्सीडेंट्स और अमीनो एसिड पर्याप्त मात्रा में होते हैं, वहीं फ लों के सेवन से याददाश्त मजबूत बनती है और ये आपको हर समय तरोताजा रखते हैं। सुबह ताजे फ लों का सेवन करें। दोपहर के खाने में दो से तीन फ ल और एक सब्जी और सलाद खाएं। सलाद बनाने के लिए आप बींस और अंकुरित मटर का प्रयोग कर सकते हैं। रात के खाने में कम से कम दो सब्जियों का सेवन करें। 

गुड़

गुड़ के सेवन से शरीर में ऊष्मा का संचार होता है। गुड़ में प्रोटीन, मैग्नीशियम, मिनरल्स, विटामिन, पोटेशियम, फॉस्फ ोरस आदि प्रचुर मात्रा में होते हैं। ठंड से सुस्त पड़ गए रक्त प्रवाह को यह तेज करता है, पाचन शक्ति को बढ़ाता है। बच्चे गुड़ खाना पसंद नहीं करते, उन्हें गुड़ का हलवा बनाकर खिलाएं। चटपटे व्यंजनों की ओर आकर्षित होने की बजाय सर्दी-जुकाम, खांसी से बचने के लिए ताजे फलों और सब्जियों का सेवन करें।
