this ceremony is just ridiculous !!! maybe it helps the tourism and brings money to the region
I see the border ceremony as a dignified and restrained method of showing that they can overcome the animosity in a mutually respectful manner. Two things stand out for me, one visible in the video and one not visible, but obvious; first is the handshake, a universal show of respect, and second (but not visible) is the fact that all these soldiers had to choreograph and rehearse all these moves together at some point, prior to the actual ceremony. Think about THAT for a moment.
Let me presume upon your kindness to remind you that this is tradition. The armies of the two countries have always closed our borders in such a fashion.
Similarly, the guard at Buckingham has stood mobile, and Oxford has convocatino ceremonies with freakish, antiquated and funny hats.
We do take pride in our tradition, and do not mind your low iq comments.
