Atithi (meaning) guest is always an unwelcome specie, especially when they come to stay overnight and the stay then goes into weeks and months. This movie is about one such Atithi. However, since, a guest is like God, we have to treat them right, right? That’s the Indian hospitality. And it is this very hospitality that the comedy is based upon.

Ajay Devgan and Konkona Sen Sharma are happily married to each other with a six-year-old son, when an unwelcome, unannounced guest, who on arrival in the building lobby itself sets up a commotion by slapping the watchman, rocks their world. Guest (Paresh Rawal) is asking for Pappu. He has a flat No., which matches with where Ajay resides. So Ajay who is Puneet in the film becomes Pappu. Rawal enters their home and makes it his own. Farts to his liking, dries his langot in all corners of the house, harasses the maid, and invites his friends over. So much so that the couple have to move out for a few days into a hotel to get some respite.

Synopsis :
Rahul (Rahul Roy) and Anu Verghese (Anu Aggarwal) meet each other in a police station. Both of them are brought in by the police as on charges of creating disturbance. Rahul Roy was angry with his father as he had married again inspite of his mother still being alive while Anu had ran away from the girls hostel which was run by Tom Alter. They meet and fall in love. Rahul helps Anu to be independent and find a job. Anu turns model. Rahul wants to marry Anu, but first wants to establish himself as a singer and have a career going. He turns into a singer but is under the impression that Anu has helped him to get where he is now. His ego is hurt and he starts hating Anu. Anu tries to re-locate herself abroad for a modelling assignment. Will Anu be able to leave Rahul behind, will Rahul let her go… forms the climax of the film.

इस फिल्म की पब्लिसिटी सबसे ज्यादा सलमान – कटरीना के नाम के साथ की जा रही है जो पूरी फिल्म में तीन – चार दृश्यों और एक आइटम सॉन्ग में नजर आते हैं। वहीं सलमान के ब्रदर अरबाज खान का फिल्म में सिर्फ एक सीन है। हां ! अरबाज खान की साली अमृता अरोड़ा और सुहैल खान का जरूर अहम रोल है।

अतुल की यह फिल्म मशहूर अंग्रेजी उपन्यासकार चेतन भगत के नॉविल ‘ वन नाइट ऐट द कॉल सेंटर ‘ पर आधारित है। अतुल ने फिल्म बनाने से पहले चेतन के साथ मिलकर नॉविल को फिल्म का लुक देने के लिए हल्का – फुल्का सा बदलाव किया है। फिल्म की कहानी कॉल सेंटर में एक रात को घटी कुछ घटनाओं से बुनी हुई है। कॉल सेंटर का बॉस बख्शी ( दिलीप ताहिल ) तेज बारिश के बीच यहां काम करने वाले कुछ लोगों श्याम ( शरमन जोशी ), प्रियंका ( गुल पनाग ), ऐषा ( ईशा कोप्पिकर ), वरुण ( सुहैल खान ), राधिका ( अमृता अरोड़ा ), मिलिट्री अंकल ( शरत सक्सेना ) को अचानक ड्यूटी पर बुलाता है।

‘द्रोण’ में है -बड़े सितारे, बड़ी पृष्ठभूमि, बड़ा खर्च, विज्ञापनों के लिए बड़ा बजट, बड़ी उम्मीदें, इन सबके बावजूद दर्शकों को लुभाने में असफल हो रही है।

फंतासी कहानियां हिंदी फिल्म जगत में बहुत कम दिखाई देती हैं, इसलिए इस फिल्म के लिए गोल्डी बहल की हिम्मत की सराहना तो करनी पड़ेगी। फिल्म की विफलता का सबसे बड़ा कारण है इसकी पटकथा। पटकथा के तीन लेखकों जयदीप सरकार, रोहिणी किल्लौघ और गोल्डी बहल को सबसे ढीली-ढाली पटकथा के लिए पुरस्कार मिलना चाहिए।

जितनी मेहनत फिल्म के निर्माता इरोस के लुल्ला और सृष्टि आर्य ने ‘द्रोण’ के प्रचार के लिए की है, उतनी सफलता नहीं मिल पा रही है।

गोल्डी बहल और इसके लेखक शायद खुद ही नहीं निर्णय ले पाए कि ‘द्रोण’ एक सुपरहीरो फिल्म है या फंतासी। वैसे तो इसके निर्माता कहते रहें हैं कि यह एक सुपरहीरो फिल्म नहीं है, लेकिन फिल्म के नायक की सभी हरकतें सुपर हीरो की तरह हैं। इसके बावजूद फिल्म का नायक तभी शक्तिशाली लगता है जब खलनायक उतना ही खुंखार हो। लेकिन इस फिल्‍म का खलनायक (के के मेनन) काफी मजाकियां लगते है। फिल्म के गाने और दो घंटे से कुछ ज्यादा की लंबाई भी उबाऊ लगने लगती हैं।

नन्हा आदित्य को एक परिवार पालता है, जहां उसे हमेशा तानों और बेइज्जती का सामना करना पड़ता है। आदित्य (अभिषेक बच्चन) बड़ा होता है। तब आता है एक बुरा जादूगर रिज रायजादा (के के मेनन) जो असुरों का वंशज है। वह एक बहुमूल्य राज ‘अमृत’ को पाने के लिए तड़पता है। ‘अमृत’ तक पहुंचने के लिए उसे ‘द्रोण’ से लड़ना होगा। लेकिन समस्या यह है कि उसे पता ही नहीं कि ‘द्रोण’ कौन है।
